When updating your wardrobe, it’s not always an overhaul you need. You can easily spruce up your whole look by adding key pieces to your wardrobe. I recently shopped at Zara and after a long hiatus, at River Island. I bought some great items from both stores that instantly make my outfit the focus of attention.
Items I bought from Zara:
A red Zara jumper from TRF
A pair of skinny jeans
A jacquard print jacket from TRF
A Leopard gem encrusted necklace
Shoes I bought from River Island:
River Island Saline Studded Boots in red
Items you may already own in your wardrobe:
Bright coloured trousers
Faux leather leggings
Now what I have prepared are more than 5 looks (and counting!!) that you can have with these items. With limited cash flow and everyone wanting a piece of the latest fads, it’s time to get creative ladies!! So here’s my take on what I bought and how I intend to wear it. The great thing about the jacquard print jacket is its multicoloured and can go with bright colours like electric blues to subdued beige. Dress it up with a dress or dress it down with a pair of skinny khakis- there is no compromise on style.
Here you go ladies. I hope this gives you inspiration for trying different looks with key pieces in your wardrobe. Enjoy!
Please keep on reading my blog and spread the love!! Xxxxxx
Hah! A cheeky way to turning around that jacket potato joint Spud-u-like. Don’t sue me!! 😛
So tell me. Is it just Zara or every where I look, they’re going crazy about studs?! Well not that I am complaining because I am loving the details of studs on jackets, shoes and tops! Obviously I had to indulge in some stud-lovin’ too. Bought these beauties from Zara for £69.99. You should still be able to get your hand on one if you’re lucky!! Click here to buy the pair. xxx
Hello my fashionable readers! Yes I know I go M.I.A for a while and then re-appear. I need to keep my act more consistent. But hey that does not stop me from shopping 😛 So I bought this sequin top from TopShop in a sale and matched them with these mint coloured trousers I bought from Zara and these studded boots. Studs seem to be the “IT” part of the outfit at the moment. It is all about the studs- on the jackets, shoes, gloves, shoulder pads; you name it. So here I am being oh-so-casual at a friend’s.
What has been catching my eye lately are the gorgeous small designer leather accessories i.e. cardholders. Coming in an array of colours, these are the perfect accessory to put your plastic money in aka debit/credit cards or even your business cards. A great conversation starter especially if you’re into networking. It’s like having a small part of designer goodness in your bag. A great gift I may add. I gifted a gold Prada cardholder to my friend and she loved it!!
And they work really well if you’re going out and can only stash as much in a clutch. So putting your card in a cardholder actually gives you a bit of reassurance that should you lose that (LET’S HOPE NOT!), someone will notice!
From DKNY to Alexander McQueen, Smythson to Anya Hindmarch, Mulberry to Prada and many more- they’re all adding a bit of glamour to this otherwise ignored piece of accessory. I love the nudes and pastel shades used by Mulberry and Anya Hindmarch (love the bow detail too!). At the same time kudos to Prada for using a range of colours from bright reds to golds. I love the signature skull detail on the Alexander McQueen cardholders. I cannot wait to add one of these to my collection! 😀
So if you’re looking to treat yourself or buy a gift for someone close to you, do browse these lovely creations. Ranging from £45 to over a £100, there’s something to match everyone’s range.
Anyone suffering from shopaholicism (yea I just invented that word! haha) look away! For I have been eyeing up some great stuff be it a pair of shoes or a technology accessory, that staple leather jacket every wardrobe should have or the Chanel bag. Sigh! the list is never ending. But the key is to buy pieces that stay in your wardrobe for at least a couple of years because not everyone can afford a shopping spree every week or month!
I subscribe to credible online shopping sites like The Outnet (a “considerably” cheaper version of Net-a-Porter and owned by the same company) and Brandalley. That way I find some amazing bargains so for me it’s a year round sale! So here is a list of things I’ve come across and I think will be great additions to any wardrobe plus a couple of wants (which you don’t necessarily need!)
So normally I don’t buy leather jackets because when I look at the origin of the jacket- most of them come from Pakistan. And that’s a great thing because Pakistan and India source some of the best leather and that is why most of the jackets in Zara, Mango and TopShop would either be Made in Pakistan or Made in India. What stops me from buying them is the exorbitant price tag that comes with the jacket. Frankly, I can buy a stylish leather jacket from Pakistan for fraction of the price. HOWEVER! (Yes, there is a however!) If you are looking for style and unique design then forking out on these jackets is definitely worth it.
It’s a great thing then that Muubaa’s Spring Summer collection of leather jackets is on SALE on Brandalley. Just one more day to go and you can bag yourself up to 70% off so I say why not!! Click here to avail the fantastic offers now.
I love technology. I love gadgets and I love the fact how designers have come on board designing some amazing accessories for them. I love my iPhone 4s and I cannot help buying accessories for it. Some times people make fun of the fact how much casing I have for that one phone. How ironic it would be if I still manage to smash it! (I HOPE NOT!!!)
Anyway, I never knew that apart from designing some drool-worthy dresses, Lanvin actually designed an iPhone 4 case! I came across this lovely surprise on Net-a-Porter’s website. I have to say it is one of my most favourite at the moment. For £45 it’s not exactly cheap for a case but then again, how often do you buy a designer case for your phone.
With summer around the corner (I know I’ve been pining for them since forever and I hope summer this year isn’t the peek-a-boo kind!!) it’s all about the pinks and the peaches. So I am loving this soft glow blush by Chanel called Blush Horizon De Chanel. It’s all about keeping it understated especially during the day and let your skin breathe under the sweltering heat.
And I also love this strawberry pink lip colour by Chanel. Ah! I can just picture the whole look. Mmmm summer.
How often do you come across the perfect golden pair of heels that are not too over the top yet classy enough to stand out? D&G have this perfect pair on sale! For £71 you cannot go wrong and they are a gorgeous pair and they look so comfortable.

Gearing up for the new season, I’m also trying to get fit. And by trying I mean finding the right pair of trainers. So that means I haven’t really started running or working out yet! I know, I’m more excited about what I’ll wear than the actual exercising! haha. But anyone remember the Puma Alexander McQueen collaboration? I remember my (late) fashionable friend Sareena wearing one of these. She was the most fashionable person I had known.
This rib cage design is very McQueen and a great motivation to work out in these fabulous shoes. “Oh darling! I’m working out in my McQueens! Pha pha pha!” I can’t believe I just said that. -_- haha! *cringe*

I guess that wraps up my shopping splurge for the week. I do want to add loads more stuff but I am holding back. A little at a time! 😉
Again, the key thing for me is being in the loop, subscribing to credible websites and hunting for the best bargain! The adrenalin rush from that is better than plain ol’ retail therapy! 😉 Till the next one. xx
I can hear all the women screaming with delight. Lucky are those girls who are free or work near the venue. Ahh!! I wish I could go. But! doesn’t mean I won’t share! 😉 SO ladies!! Make sure you check out this sample sale by REISS. They are advertising prices starting from £10 so you’re sure to land a bargain. Book off those times in your diary ASAP!!
With an unpredictable weather in England, I am hoping I will get to wear one of these shoes I bring back with me. Check these beautiful sandals or “chappals” as we call them in Pakistan. They’re all made of real leather and handmade in amazing colours. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, shopping in Pakistan is heaven!! Especially with the exchange rate of pound VS rupees Khe Khe Khe! :p
So everyday I decide I need to update my website because it’s been TOO LONG and the fact I’ve been buying some amazing stuff while I’ve been here in Pakistan and have not been able to share it at all!!
What with running after tailors, last minute shopping, requests I get from my friends in London and maintaining a fine balance between giving full attention to my friends and family- it’s bloody hard!!
Anyway I thought I would share this gorgeous top or “kurta” as we call it in Pakistan. It is made of the softest cotton that will ensure I don’t die in the London heat. What I love is the attention to detail given to this top- notice the embroidery at the back, the cut and embroidery near the left knee cap, the green shoulder patch and the bright orange colour!! It is LOVE!
I find a lot of people underestimate the fashion scene of Pakistan but there is clearly no need. With Fashion Week in Pakistan just wrapped up a couple of weeks back, the pictures from the show were mind blowing. I will definitely be sharing those real soon. Till then enjoy this post. Much love xx
Hello my fashionable followers/readers/fellow bloggers!!
I know I have not been as regular as I usually am but you cannot expect me to work while I am away. Writing full on posts feels a bit arduous! 😉 For that follow me on Twitter (@NidaJehan) and get all the latest (read: regular) posts and pictures. BUT! I have been piling up work for myself and I will be updating you all on what I bought/wore/styled/wanted-to-die-wearing!!
So I bought this top from this local boutique called Chinyere’. It’s a subsidiary of this clothing conglomerate called Bareeze’ whose unstitched cloth of the finest cotton, silk and chiffon Pakistani women swear by! It was on SALE!! Yes!! So not only was it a bargain but it was really stylish as well. Value for money I would say! The colour is very Spring/Summer and around the neck is a hand embroidered design that looks like I’m wearing a necklace so you don’t need to wear any jewellery. Very smart! It’s shaped like a paper bag upside down and is tight around the legs. It is very flattering to the figure. And if this top isn’t impressive enough from the front, check out the back! Keeps the onlooker entertained from front and back! hah! I got it for a cool Rs.3000 which is a cool £20! Not bad at all.
I can almost feel the heat now. Well, I am feeling it because I am in Pakistan and the sun is at it’s glory nowadays. Summer is here!! YEEEESSS!! I won’t be celebrating for long though once it becomes a hot and sticky mess! I don’t look forward to traveling in the “tube” once I come back to London from Pakistan. A word of advice: Please keep a £1 deodorant in your bag. It is God sent!
What I am ABSOLUTELY loving this summer is lots and LOTS of colours. Colourful jeans, tops, blazers- juxtaposed on top of each other and some how it works. I love the printed floral trousers that have come out this SS 2012. They go really well with plain tops, colourful belts to accessorise and pastel coloured shoes. I. CANNOT.WAIT!!!!
Anyway, I caught the new mommy Beyonce’ working this trend and she looks smashing. But of course dah-ling!
Take inspiration from her and put some passion in your pants this Summer! 😉
