When it’s Winter time, I can’t wear an all black outfit. Imagine you’ve eaten a full buffet and then you go and have a 3 course meal- OVERWHELMING!!!

I like to break mine up with some colour- be it a top, shoes or the accessories. Otherwise I may feel as if I’m going to a funeral. No offence to anyone who loves wearing black- it’s just me who can’t handle it.

So here’s how I broke my black streak.

Shoes: New Look
Black Leather Jacket: Lungta De Fancy
Leather effect tights: Miss Selfridge
Bag: Prada
Purple jumper: Zara

P.S: I’m not usually this serious :p

Today was a day of chilling and strolling through the streets of London. Hey you know the London summer I kept on dreaming about all these months?? Well what do you know! Its finally here, if only for a week!! But hey! Better live it up.

Decided to keep it cool with a pair of Zara print trousers, pinned a flower to a plain T shirt to jazz it up and accessorised with my Prada sunnies, a beaded necklace and D&G bag for the KAPOW affect!! 😉 aaah! I got burnt! I think it will last me till whenever the next time Mr Sun will grace us. Xx

What has been catching my eye lately are the gorgeous small designer leather accessories i.e. cardholders. Coming in an array of colours, these are the perfect accessory to put your plastic money in aka debit/credit cards or even your business cards. A great conversation starter especially if you’re into networking. It’s like having a small part of designer goodness in your bag. A great gift I may add. I gifted a gold Prada cardholder to my friend and she loved it!!

And they work really well if you’re going out and can only stash as much in a clutch. So putting your card in a cardholder actually gives you a bit of reassurance that should you lose that (LET’S HOPE NOT!), someone will notice!

From DKNY to Alexander McQueen, Smythson to Anya Hindmarch, Mulberry to Prada and many more- they’re all adding a bit of glamour to this otherwise ignored piece of accessory. I love the nudes and pastel shades used by Mulberry and Anya Hindmarch (love the bow detail too!). At the same time kudos to Prada for using a range of colours from bright reds to golds. I love the signature skull detail on the Alexander McQueen cardholders. I cannot wait to add one of these to my collection! 😀

So if you’re looking to treat yourself or buy a gift for someone close to you, do browse these lovely creations. Ranging from £45 to over a £100, there’s something to match everyone’s range.

As time passes by, technology is becoming more and more entwined in our lives, any one from a teenager to your grandpa would have the latest in technology- would it be an iPad or a Blackberry, a Kindle to catch up on their reading or a netbook to do your business on: Yes, technology is taking over our lives. Where I do not approve of a complete digital lifestyle as it is killing face to face human interaction, one cannot help but put one’s fashionable foot forward.

All the major designers have taken note be it high street or luxury- they’ve all discovered there’s a huge demographic of technology lovers who still want to put their gadgets in the prettiest and “raddest” bag or pouch. It’s a get-noticed culture we’ve got and these designers are fuelling it. Don’t think I’m complaining for one second. In fact, I love it. The choice is immense! It caters to the style needs of the conservative to anyone who’s following the Spring Summer trend of nudes, pastels and bright colours. Fashion is not about clothes and shoes anymore!

There are Kindle cases by Diane von Furstenberg, technology cases (for iPhones, Blackberrys, Kindles, Laptops and iPads) by the likes of Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Jimmy Choo, Smythson, Mulberry and the list goes on and on and on!

When I bought my iPhone, I looked every where for a case that would not only protect my baby (yes! it’s my baby and I’m sad!) but make it look even cooler! So I searched the internet, stores and what not till I found the perfect accessories. The best website I have found is Net-a-Porter and I found a gorgeous Chloe’ leather pouch.

You have designers from Valentino to Jimmy Choo, Prada to Gucci, Marc Jacobs to Michael Kors. You name the designer and they’ve got the accessory for you. I decided to make some collages for you guys (because I have ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD,not!). You’ve got the snake print bags by Marc Jacobs, the bling glitter bag for your iPad by Jimmy Choo and the grey Valentino iPhone 4 pouch (which will be my next purchase) among others. Have a browse and I hope you find the accessory for your tech.

But if you feel these designer accessories are too expensive and do not justify the cost, which I do know is probably more than what the gadget cost you! (HAH!) then have no fear, ASOS is here! (cheesy at its best!)

ASOS has a small but worthy selection of techno accessories and I’ve chosen the best four I found on the site:

I love buying clothes and accessories that I can wear over and over again without getting bored and that I can mix and match with other items from my wardrobe as I go along the year. My recent shopping spree has been quite productive. If you read one of my previous posts about Zara (refresh your memory by clicking here) I was in love with their floral blazer. Since seeing it in store, I was dreaming of it 24/7 and could not help but buy it! YES! I bought it! It is such an amazing piece; I am already excited about Spring/Summer.

I am such a Zara fiend that I do most of my shopping from there. And I will contradict myself by saying some of their stuff is really low quality which pains me but some is totally worth it! I also bought a white pair of trousers with a sheen finish and an ankle zip detail- love the mid rise skinny fit (£40.00). And then there was their sale stuff still in store- tops as low as £3!! Even though sales are pretty much done and over with you can still find some really good bargains if you’re the patient one.

The green snake skin high heels are so chic and the textured print is lovely that is perfect for the coming season. It is very versatile and can easily be worn with colourful pieces as well as stand out in an all black outfit. The yellow top is again from Zara that I got on sale LAST year and with a colourful summer ahead of us- STILL very much wearable (And I got it on a sale too for under £10!!).

Patterned and floral prints have made a comeback in a big way thanks to big wigs like Versace, Oscar De La Renta, Prada and they’re being incorporated in blazers, tops and trousers by high street brands. The abstract floral print blazer I got from River Island has seen me through a whole year and it’s still as wearable as ever. I love clothes that last you through thick and thin like a trusty friend! 😉 haha

And so I decided to do a shoot combining some old and new pieces- more of a capsule look I would say. Keeping the accessories same, I have changed the blazer and top. Voila! you’ve got two outfits! This is just an inspiration for you to play around with pieces you already own and some you could add to your collection. I could play around with more and more looks by adding a couple more pieces but then I’ll just get carried away and never stop! 😉 Till the next one, enjoy the following photos!  xxx

Synopsis of the looks:

Yellow Top: Zara

Purple Top: Zara

Heels: Zara

With SS 2012 just around the corner (well considering British weather, may be not!) it was great to see one of my favourite designer brand, Mulberry, launch their new Bayswater collection which is why I chose it as my inaugural post in “Weekly Spotlight”. I love colour and it’s great to see Mulberry come out with a colour pop range!! Their prices start from £795 and go up as much as £3500. (Yikes!)

Mulberry has come back with a bang with the luxury market previously being dominated by brands like Gucci, LV and Prada. Like Burberry it has really created a niche for itself and stuck to its English roots. Roger Saul, founder of Mulberry, chose the best words to describe his brand as “a romantic but robust lifestyle.”

So if you’ve been waiting to treat yourself for a while then have a look at their bags. Their sales stuff isn’t bad either. I’m sure you’ll find something to fit your budget! 🙂

And stay tuned for a dose of Weekly Spotlight every week! 😉

Featured in Look Magazine

I got featured in Look Magazine under their style search campaign. I was caught by surprise as I normally read such features rather than be a part of them. But I have to admit, it was pretty cool! 😉
