What has been catching my eye lately are the gorgeous small designer leather accessories i.e. cardholders. Coming in an array of colours, these are the perfect accessory to put your plastic money in aka debit/credit cards or even your business cards. A great conversation starter especially if you’re into networking. It’s like having a small part of designer goodness in your bag. A great gift I may add. I gifted a gold Prada cardholder to my friend and she loved it!!
And they work really well if you’re going out and can only stash as much in a clutch. So putting your card in a cardholder actually gives you a bit of reassurance that should you lose that (LET’S HOPE NOT!), someone will notice!
From DKNY to Alexander McQueen, Smythson to Anya Hindmarch, Mulberry to Prada and many more- they’re all adding a bit of glamour to this otherwise ignored piece of accessory. I love the nudes and pastel shades used by Mulberry and Anya Hindmarch (love the bow detail too!). At the same time kudos to Prada for using a range of colours from bright reds to golds. I love the signature skull detail on the Alexander McQueen cardholders. I cannot wait to add one of these to my collection!
So if you’re looking to treat yourself or buy a gift for someone close to you, do browse these lovely creations. Ranging from £45 to over a £100, there’s something to match everyone’s range.
Anyone suffering from shopaholicism (yea I just invented that word! haha) look away! For I have been eyeing up some great stuff be it a pair of shoes or a technology accessory, that staple leather jacket every wardrobe should have or the Chanel bag. Sigh! the list is never ending. But the key is to buy pieces that stay in your wardrobe for at least a couple of years because not everyone can afford a shopping spree every week or month!
I subscribe to credible online shopping sites like The Outnet (a “considerably” cheaper version of Net-a-Porter and owned by the same company) and Brandalley. That way I find some amazing bargains so for me it’s a year round sale! So here is a list of things I’ve come across and I think will be great additions to any wardrobe plus a couple of wants (which you don’t necessarily need!)
So normally I don’t buy leather jackets because when I look at the origin of the jacket- most of them come from Pakistan. And that’s a great thing because Pakistan and India source some of the best leather and that is why most of the jackets in Zara, Mango and TopShop would either be Made in Pakistan or Made in India. What stops me from buying them is the exorbitant price tag that comes with the jacket. Frankly, I can buy a stylish leather jacket from Pakistan for fraction of the price. HOWEVER! (Yes, there is a however!) If you are looking for style and unique design then forking out on these jackets is definitely worth it.
It’s a great thing then that Muubaa’s Spring Summer collection of leather jackets is on SALE on Brandalley. Just one more day to go and you can bag yourself up to 70% off so I say why not!! Click here to avail the fantastic offers now.
I love technology. I love gadgets and I love the fact how designers have come on board designing some amazing accessories for them. I love my iPhone 4s and I cannot help buying accessories for it. Some times people make fun of the fact how much casing I have for that one phone. How ironic it would be if I still manage to smash it! (I HOPE NOT!!!)
Anyway, I never knew that apart from designing some drool-worthy dresses, Lanvin actually designed an iPhone 4 case! I came across this lovely surprise on Net-a-Porter’s website. I have to say it is one of my most favourite at the moment. For £45 it’s not exactly cheap for a case but then again, how often do you buy a designer case for your phone.
With summer around the corner (I know I’ve been pining for them since forever and I hope summer this year isn’t the peek-a-boo kind!!) it’s all about the pinks and the peaches. So I am loving this soft glow blush by Chanel called Blush Horizon De Chanel. It’s all about keeping it understated especially during the day and let your skin breathe under the sweltering heat.
And I also love this strawberry pink lip colour by Chanel. Ah! I can just picture the whole look. Mmmm summer.
How often do you come across the perfect golden pair of heels that are not too over the top yet classy enough to stand out? D&G have this perfect pair on sale! For £71 you cannot go wrong and they are a gorgeous pair and they look so comfortable.

Gearing up for the new season, I’m also trying to get fit. And by trying I mean finding the right pair of trainers. So that means I haven’t really started running or working out yet! I know, I’m more excited about what I’ll wear than the actual exercising! haha. But anyone remember the Puma Alexander McQueen collaboration? I remember my (late) fashionable friend Sareena wearing one of these. She was the most fashionable person I had known.
This rib cage design is very McQueen and a great motivation to work out in these fabulous shoes. “Oh darling! I’m working out in my McQueens! Pha pha pha!” I can’t believe I just said that. -_- haha! *cringe*

With 54% off, they’re selling out fast. So make sure you get your hands on them IF you like ‘em by clicking here.
I guess that wraps up my shopping splurge for the week. I do want to add loads more stuff but I am holding back. A little at a time!
Again, the key thing for me is being in the loop, subscribing to credible websites and hunting for the best bargain! The adrenalin rush from that is better than plain ol’ retail therapy! Till the next one. xx
I can almost feel the heat now. Well, I am feeling it because I am in Pakistan and the sun is at it’s glory nowadays. Summer is here!! YEEEESSS!! I won’t be celebrating for long though once it becomes a hot and sticky mess! I don’t look forward to traveling in the “tube” once I come back to London from Pakistan. A word of advice: Please keep a £1 deodorant in your bag. It is God sent!
What I am ABSOLUTELY loving this summer is lots and LOTS of colours. Colourful jeans, tops, blazers- juxtaposed on top of each other and some how it works. I love the printed floral trousers that have come out this SS 2012. They go really well with plain tops, colourful belts to accessorise and pastel coloured shoes. I. CANNOT.WAIT!!!!
Anyway, I caught the new mommy Beyonce’ working this trend and she looks smashing. But of course dah-ling!
Take inspiration from her and put some passion in your pants this Summer!
As time passes by, technology is becoming more and more entwined in our lives, any one from a teenager to your grandpa would have the latest in technology- would it be an iPad or a Blackberry, a Kindle to catch up on their reading or a netbook to do your business on: Yes, technology is taking over our lives. Where I do not approve of a complete digital lifestyle as it is killing face to face human interaction, one cannot help but put one’s fashionable foot forward.
All the major designers have taken note be it high street or luxury- they’ve all discovered there’s a huge demographic of technology lovers who still want to put their gadgets in the prettiest and “raddest” bag or pouch. It’s a get-noticed culture we’ve got and these designers are fuelling it. Don’t think I’m complaining for one second. In fact, I love it. The choice is immense! It caters to the style needs of the conservative to anyone who’s following the Spring Summer trend of nudes, pastels and bright colours. Fashion is not about clothes and shoes anymore!
When I bought my iPhone, I looked every where for a case that would not only protect my baby (yes! it’s my baby and I’m sad!) but make it look even cooler! So I searched the internet, stores and what not till I found the perfect accessories. The best website I have found is Net-a-Porter and I found a gorgeous Chloe’ leather pouch.
You have designers from Valentino to Jimmy Choo, Prada to Gucci, Marc Jacobs to Michael Kors. You name the designer and they’ve got the accessory for you. I decided to make some collages for you guys (because I have ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD,not!). You’ve got the snake print bags by Marc Jacobs, the bling glitter bag for your iPad by Jimmy Choo and the grey Valentino iPhone 4 pouch (which will be my next purchase) among others. Have a browse and I hope you find the accessory for your tech.
But if you feel these designer accessories are too expensive and do not justify the cost, which I do know is probably more than what the gadget cost you! (HAH!) then have no fear, ASOS is here! (cheesy at its best!)
ASOS has a small but worthy selection of techno accessories and I’ve chosen the best four I found on the site:
To browse more technology accessories, visit Net-A-Porter’s, ASOS’ and My-Wardrobe’s websites through the following links:
The pictures of the designer accessories are NOT my own. They belong to Net-A-Porter, ASOS and My-Wardrobe. I do not own the rights to the images. I am just using them courtesy of these websites. I have only watermarked the collage design.
A woman who’s style I really love and admire is Kate Beckinsale. She carries herself so well and I’ve hardly ever seen her in a fashion disaster. She’s such a babe and looks amazing in whatever she wears. Check her out wearing this on-trend one shoulder jumpsuit and I love this deep fuchsia colour! She accessorised it with just the right amount of accessories and minimal make up. I think I should give credit to her stylist as well who probably went through several outfit changes before deciding on this winner. A job well done! Definitely brightened up the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards.
I was just going to end this post with her looking super hot but then decided why not do a whole feature focussing on jumpsuits?! If you’re looking to copy her style this summer, then I’ve got a selection for you. You don’t need to go crazy on the printed jumpsuits, a solid colour looks just fine as it’s like a blank canvas and you can play around with chunky jewellery, accessories and shoes! O the shoes…
This one comes in 3 different colours. Hurry up and get your hands on this jumpsuit as it’s selling out fast! I love the ruffle detail and the back has a criss cross design plus the silky material gives it a very ethereal look. Click hereto get yours.
A short jumpsuit but a very cute number. If you’re petite (like moi!) and always have to go through a million shops before you find the right size or haggle someone to alter yours, then this short version is the perfect one for you. The canary yellow colour, the net sleeves and the bow (its HUGE but does not look out of place) make it a very key part of your summer wardrobe. Imagine wearing it with some flip flops, a straw hat, peppermint nails and some frappes. O how lovely dah-ling! I can ramble on but hey! if you want to buy this jumpsuit, then click here.
This red jumpsuits looks slightly more formal than the rest. The cut is very straight and structured. It would suit someone who’s going for a very sharp and less fussy look. Unlike the frills or bows, this one has a one-shoulder detail and that is all it would need. All it needs is a chunky necklace, a cocktail ring, and a clutch to finish the look. You can either play around with the red and black combo or be a bit more daring and add some multicoloured accessories to the look. It comes in two colours, choose yours here.
I really love this slinky jumpsuit by Halston Heritage. It is a great and effortless look for a night out. Fuss free and manageable. The Berry colour is just right too. To shop yours, click here. With these monotone solid colours, you can bring out the attire with your choice of accessories. I love sites like ASOS and Net-A-Porter that have everything in one place nicely categorised so you can easily choose and match your outfit. With jumpsuits like these, you need some chunky bracelets that stand out and you don’t need to pile them on like there’s no tomorrow. One or two would do.

And you can always pair a trusty set of heels when you go out and play. Take inspiration from this colourful bunch!

So ladies, you don’t need any more inspiration. A word of advice: Jumpsuits can be very flattering and Unflattering at the same time so make sure the one you choose fits you well and does not cling on to all the wrong places. If it’s not for you then don’t wear or buy it! Some trends are better left alone.
In real life, you don’t always want to be dressed to the nines with your high heels, perfect skirt or pair of jeans and the chicest handbag in tow (unless you’re ANNA WINTOUR!!) Sometimes, you just want to be casual and still look chic. The effortless look. I like looking at people who look so casual yet so put together. And before I start, apologies for lack of posts recently, ill health had gotten the better of me. But now I am back and kicking!! So let’s kick off this week’s Weekly Spotlight!
So talking of casual…I start thinking about sneakers, high top trainers but no, I don’t go as far as track suits. We gotta draw the line some where ladies. And I draw the line at the shoes and the occasional hoodies. Once in a blue moon kinda thing when it comes to hoodies.
The sneakers that caught my eye were the ones Miranda Kerr was wearing while she was yet again waltzing around some amazing location with the cutest baby in her arms. Yep! Those are Isabel Marant babies! The shoes I mean. Isabel Marant is this French designer who designs very understated chic designs. It was a nice surprise seeing someone like her foray into this share of the market.

And then there is the following one, which is sold out by the way.
Betty leather and suede sneakers £390 (courtesy net-a-porter.com)
At £390 a pair, these babies don’t come cheap! (Click here to view) You’ll only buy these if you’re crazy about sneakers and love collecting all the latest ones OR you have £390 to spare in the bank and want to look casual but not enough that you’ll shop from the high street!
Do you know what happened on January 25, 2o12?? Someone’s birthday? No. Some movie came out? No. World peace was declared? Not quite. Karl Lagerfeld, the brains behind the power house CHANEL, launched his affordable collection for women under KARL. And true to his eccentricity and style, there was a lot of leather, tank tops with his face emblazoned on them, canvas bags and what not. But one must-have item for all Karl’s fans, was the pair of high-top sneakers. With a price tag of £295, they do not come cheap but who said style comes cheap? (I do!! I just wanted to use this line here! haha)
With designers churning out high-top sneakers, you can’t expect Chloe’ to sit back and look. To be fair, Chloe’ has been doing them for a while. These tan coloured ones with the leather, snake print and suede detail are pretty chic. The right balance between casual and chic I must say.
Suede, leather and ayers high-top sneakers £365 (courtesy of net-a-porter.com)

LOVE the gold Chloe’ logo at the back. Very subtle and a great finishing touch. Anything more would look OTT and trashy. I despise those GUCCI trainer with G’s all over the freakin’ shoe. Or any that have the logo all over. Yea, I know you can afford those shoes. Thanks! So NOT classy at all!
If you have £395 spare and looking for the ultimate casual designer high-top sneakers then click here to buy!
Knowing me, you know there’s a bargain hiding here some where. Because, I am a sucker for good bargains! Anyone heard of Yohji Yamamoto? Truth be told, even I had not a while back but then I saw his designs and fell in love with this Japanese designer acclaimed for his tailoring skills bordering on genius! Here I was browsing through these designer sales websites, BrandAlley.co.uk, when I came across his high top sneakers. Very simple monochrome pair of high top sneakers that make a statement. And with 79% off their retail price, if you’re a size 5 and love sneakers, it’s your LUCKY DAY! Paying £76 instead of £365, I say now THAT’S a bargain!
To buy them, please click here. Although, you will have to create an account on BrandAlley.
Now the next and last but not the least designer on my list is Sam Edelman. He is the king of studs!! His shoes are chic with an edge. Biker chic! These trainers are on a sale price of £60!! Down from £198. That’s how much a pair of converse would cost. Mental. I LOVE sales!! Ok I need to calm down. -_-
But hey check them out!

There’s only ONE pair left in a size 4. So if you want to buy them, then click here ASAP!
Alright ladies and gents, this is the end of the Weekly Spotlight. I hope you enjoyed this post. You’ll definitely find a lot more designer trainers out there. Net-a-Porter is great for that!
We all like to be prepared when it comes to different seasons during the year. For London, there are mainly two seasons. Cold and rainy or Hot and rainy. What’s common between the two? RAIN!! One thing we cannot ever get used to is the amount it rains here. After ruining my much loved footwear to water damage, I thought it was high time to invest in a good pair of wellington boots- or “wellies” as we love to call them.
I couldn’t just wear any wellies. They had to be stylish and they had to stand out! So I started shopping around. My first love was Vivienne Westwood for Melissa wellington boots. The very first ones I remember had cute bows on them in different colours but at that time I did not think much of buying anything for rain as I was like “Pooh! I’ll survive rain!” But oh boy! Was I wrong! It took losing several lovely pairs to the blasted rain before I decided to buy a pair.
I looked around for these but either never found them in the colour I wanted or my size. But after much searching, I did find the ones by Vivienne Westwood and they were the Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Studded Bootie 111 from Selfridges for a cool £98 and they are SO WORTH IT!! I have been complimented left, right and centre for them.
Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Studded Bootie III Now £58.50 on ASOS
But during my search, what I did find was how some brands were dedicated to this “genre” of shoes: The Rain Boots!
One designer brand that I find is completely dedicated to these shoes is Burberry. Every season they keep on adding to their already extensive range of rain boots. From Equestrian style to buckled up- they have a design for everyone. Obviously when you’re talking about Burberry, the price is not going to be cheap. They start from £135 onwards but what I have found with their designs is that they’re very versatile, they blend in and you can carry them off with ease. They’re not like Hunter wellies that stand out like a dog in a herd of sheep! I’ve worn my Vivienna Westwood’s to work soooo many times and they look cool! My top favourites for this season are:
EQUESTRIAN RAIN BOOT WITH LEATHER BELTS £235
LEATHER TOP RAINBOOT £250
BACK ZIP RAINBOOTS £225 (comes in 3 different colours)
Not to be left behind is GUCCI. I have one and only one favourite design from there and I was after them for a while. They were available on the online store but had not arrived in store, and whilst I was waiting for them I found the Vivienne Westwood’s and fell in love with them instead! GUCCI came out with the “storm” flat boot with signature web detail that I instantly fell in love with the moment I saw them! Had they been available in store I would have bought them straight away. Priced at £180, you would not expect anything less from GUCCI and to be honest the price is reasonable for the design, quality, brand name and the amount of times you’ll get to wear these shoes especially if you live in a wet city like London. Red is definitely my favourite in this design:
“storm” flat boot with signature web detail £180 (Available in 3 colours)
To shop or view the Gucci pair, please click here.
And if you’re feeling extremely extravagant and want to splurge and are a regular at music festivals, then Valentino has a stunning pair for you!
VALENTINO Studded rubber knee boots £435
VALENTINO Studded rubber knee boots £435
As is obvious, at £435, they do not come cheap but I love the studded detail and the way the strap is buckled along the sides as well as the buckle detail around the shin. I personally would not spend that much on “rain boots”, but if you’ve fallen in love with them and money is no object, then click here.
But if you’re a bargain hunter like I am, then I found these amazing pair of wellies by MEL, that look similar to Vivienne Westwood’s range.
Mel Rubber Boots £37.99
If I did not know who designed them, I would’ve assumed they were by Vivienne Westwood. And guess how much they cost?! £37.99 ONLY! Bargain! New Look is selling them at the moment. They come in three different colours. To buy yours, click here.
And if you’re looking for even more selection of rain boots, then Net-a-Porter (love this site!!!) has a dedicated section just for these. To view that, please click here.
Hope you enjoyed this post. Feedback welcome! Till the next post, laters yeah! (my take on the east-end accent; don’t hate )
Little did we know, in a couple of years studs and spikes will be the rage. Well, thanks to Lady Gaga you can wear these impalers in the name of fashion and no one can question you! Wear it with leather and some people may even question if you’re into S&M? You know what?! Tell them to look at your shoes and think again. I am not suggesting anything here! I thank my lucky stars I can walk home at night thinking, should anyone attack me, I’ve got my secret weapon walking with me.
But to be honest, I have developed a liking to this trend and I am in complete love with these shoes. They give your whole attire an edgy look- a bit of rock and roll! You don’t want to look princess pretty all the time! So here’s a pick of my favourite studded loves out there:
Although sold out on Net-A-Porter’s website, you can buy these shoes in two colours- black and navy blue. You can still buy these shoes in Selfridges or Church’s stand alone stores. These are my favourite and on my wish-list!! Anyone who loves me out there, you know what to buy me!
These suede leather studded ankle boots (that was a mouth full, let’s try that again!) by Sam Edelman are great for dressing up a casual outfit or even dressing down an outfit. Wear it with leather tights or a pretty dress- these shoes are versatile and can easily be carried off with each look. Click here to buy them.
Sam Edelman Pax Leather Studded Ankle Boot £145
The second pair by Sam Edelman is similar to the Pax Leather boots but in a shoe boot heeled version. If you love heels and studs, then this is the perfect accessory to go with your outfit. The heels give these boots an oomph and they’re the best of both worlds. Totally unique and a great addition to any wardrobe. I love them! But at £217, I’m contemplating whether I’ll wear them enough to justify the price! Have a look for them here.
Sam Edelman Renzo Leather Studded Shoe Boot £217
You know that S&M comment I made earlier? Well these shoes so fit the bill. Looking at such shoes, I just wonder what if I trip and some how manage to injure myself with my own shoes or rip my dress?! How stupid would that be?! But anyway, that’s just me being random. These shoes are by this brand called Zigi. They’re a good twist to the regular black high heels but save these for a night out! To buy them, click here.
Ted Baker is one of my favourite high street designers and even he could not resist delving into the “stud” trend. These shoe boots have a classier version of the studs around the ankle and the black colour means you can wear them with jeans, dresses, tights or just the shoes on their own. Your choice! To buy them, click here.
Ted Baker Leather Shoe Boot With Stud Detail £97
And then my very own favourite FAVOURITE pair that I bought from TOPSHOP for a cool £28! I have featured these shoes in a number of my looks if you browse through the “What Am I Wearing?” category on the top left hand side. Or if you’re lazy like me and can’t be bothered, then click on the following links:
One of my best adrenalin rushes I get is when I find a bargain. Especially when I can get away with getting something from a high street brand that I have seen at a designer outlet. Of course, that is not to disregard the designer brands. What I do believe in is that you don’t need to spend hundreds of pounds to look good. You should definitely spend extra on classics that stay in your wardrobe for years to come but if you still want to keep up with the trend, you can get away with getting cheaper options to last you a couple of seasons before you get rid of them.
So! My pick from the designer’s side is this gorgeous metallic-pink jacquard Mulberry dress that I absolutely adore. You can dress it up or dress it down- it will shine through. And it is very in keeping with the metallic trend this season. I found it on Net-A-Porter’s website (LOVE this website!!) and you can shop it here. Obviously for £495, this dress does not come cheap.
If you don’t want to spend hundreds of pounds on just one dress, then I have this amazing alternative from COS. This store is pretty much becoming one of my favourite stores. It is a hidden gem. Their emphasis on minimalism, simplicity, cuts and silhouette of the fabric is just spot on. The sculpted sequin dress is one of my favourite dresses from COS. And at £125, it is a bargain compared to the Mulberry dress but you’re still keeping up with the same trend. For me, the only thing you’re not getting is the Mulberry name. So if you want to buy this metallic silver sculpted sequin dress then click here.
Hope this post gave you some inspiration to go out and find your own “High St VS Designer” moment. Till my next post, stay passionate and stay fashionable!!
O by the way, the feature I did on Stella McCartney’s Falabella bags- they would go very nicely with either of these dresses. Just sayin’
What a way to kickstart SS 2012! I love this campaign by Net-A-Porter.
I LOVE colours and I am sooooo happy, delighted, excited (and all such synonyms) to see all the designers bringing bright colours back into the Spring/Summer 2012 Collections. This is a heads up ladies! You know the rules. Any drab, dull and gloomy colours will be reported to the fashion police!
